Pops was born in Cumberland County, NC on the first of November 1945 to the late Major Allen and Annabelle Cumby Hair. He was a semi-retired owner/operator of Johnny Hairs Garage now known as Holden Beach Garage. He had also worked as a lineman with Lee Electric and Mastec Companies. Pops enjoyed listening to country and western music and watching the classic western movies. He was a self-taught mechanic and could fix anything. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Hair, Jr., and daughter-in-law, Diane Hair and a brother, Robert Hair.
Surviving are his wife of 20 years, Joyce Barefoot Hair; children, Barbara Joyce Hair of Supply, Kay Clemmons Cate-Bennette and husband John of Wilmington, NC, Ann Bailey and husband Robert of Fayetteville, NC, Mary Rogers and husband Joseph of Fayetteville, NC, Dorothy Hewett and husband Ashley of Supply, NC, Paul Daniel Pruitt and wife Sarah of Fayetteville, NC; brothers, Allen Hair, David Earl Hair; sisters, Marie Hair, Nancy Trantham; grandchildren, David Anthony Hair, Jessica H. McConnell, Travis Hair, Eugene Watts, Bobby Cate, Sandra Rogers, Joey Rogers, Matthew Pruitt, Kira Pruitt, Cameron Hewett; five great-grandchildren, Antonio Hair, Chloe Cate, Aleyia McConnell, Julianna McConnell and John McConnell.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted on Saturday the twelth of January 2019, at two o’clock in the afternoon in the White Funeral & Cremation Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel. You are all cordially invited to a reception with the family following the service at the funeral home.
