He was born in Wilmington, NC on the seventeenth of February, 1936, and was a son of the late John Rodney Lane, Sr. and Marguerite Shivar Lane.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of fifty four years, Patricia Ann Lane, a sister, Marguerite (Peggy) Dooley and a brother,
Edward G. Lane.
John graduated from New Hanover High School in 1954 and served in the
US Army afterwards. He worked as a supervisor at Timme Corporation for years
before he got the calling to go back to school and become a Methodist Minister,
an occupation he loved and eventually retired from.
The family would also like to thank the staff at Universal Health Care for
their loving care of John over the last years.
He is survived by a sister, Ann Lane Wissbaum of Matthews, NC and several
cousins, nieces, and nephews as well as many extended family members and
friends. His countless extended Christian family goes back to the many
congregations that he pastored over the years.
Funeral services will be conducted at one o’clock in the afternoon, on Wednesday the twelfth of July, 2017 in the White Funeral Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel. Inurnment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Wilmington, NC.
