James Edward Hash, of Supply, N.C, was called home on February 5, 2021. Jim was born May 31, 1942 in Radford, Virginia, the son of the late Volney and Marguerite Evelyne Davis Hash. Also preceding him in death was a sister, Darlene Divine.
Jim was proud of his West Virginia heritage and attended Concord College in Athens, West Virginia for three years where he was a member of the Phi Delta Pi Fraternity. He later completed his degree in Business Administration at Fayetteville State University in Fayetteville, NC. Jim served six years in the U.S. Army Reserves as Military Police. From 1969 until his retirement in 1993, he was a Postal Inspector with the U.S. Postal Service. He then worked as an Auditor/ Investigator with the N.C. Real Estate Commission.
Jim’s Christian faith was first and foremost in his life. He was a perfect husband and dedicated father and grandfather. Anyone who knew Jim, knew that he enjoyed jokes and bringing laughter to others. He was an avid golfer and a huge Duke basketball fan. He enjoyed home projects and was an architect of outdoor landscaping creations. Jim was honored to serve as chaplain through his membership in the National Society of the Sons of The American Revolution.
Jim is survived by his wife, Doris Kirby Hash; son, James Bryan Hash and wife Kimberly of Hope Mills, N.C.; son and daughter through marriage, Matthew Varnam of Supply, and Meredith Sullivan and husband Kevin of Supply; a brother, Wade Hash and wife Anne of Ocean Isle; a sister Martha Burris and husband Stan of St. James; and three grandchildren, Brittany Hash, Joseph Hash, and Brian Sullivan.
A celebration of life service will be held Sunday, February 14, 2021 at three o’clock in the afternoon at Word of Christ Fellowship, 1920 Stone Chimney Rd, Supply with the Reverend Gerald Kirby officiating. Visitation will be held the hour prior to the service. Due to the current health situation, COVID-19 restrictions will be followed.
