It is with much sadness that the family of Emily Queener announces her passing on July 10, 2018, at the age of 73 years.
A native of Mount Holly, NC, she attended Sacred Heart Academy in Belmont and the Mercy School of Nursing in Charlotte. A nurse for over 50 years, she dedicated her life and career to helping others.
Emily, a devout Christian, regularly attended Ocean View United Methodist Church on Oak Island, enjoying the services, camaraderie, and fund raising events there. In retirement she was a Dosher Hospital Volunteer in Southport and worked every week at the Dosher Hospital Flea Market. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Emily was known by all to be a fun-loving, sweet, kind, and caring person. She is much loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her husband of almost 26 years, Richard Queener, her sister Jane Braswell, brother-in-law Alan Braswell, niece Nicole Ruelo, nephew Jason Braswell, great-nieces Ashley and Hailey Ruelo, step-daughters Carolyn Packer and Melanie Morgan, step-grandchildren Samantha Stark and Mitchell Morgan, and in-laws Tony Morgan, Matt Stark, and John Packer.
A Celebration of Emily’s life will be held at noon, on Saturday, July 21, at the Ocean View United Methodist Church, 8400 E. Oak Island Dr., Oak Island, NC 28465, with Lead Pastor Michelle Sabin and Associate Pastor Rick Russell officiating.
