Bobby was born in Wilmington, N.C. to Willie Curtis Hewett and Mary Evelyn Bowling on April 8, 1949. He graduated from Southport High School. He was married to Thiry L. Hayes. He was the founder of Brunswick Glass, which was based in Southport, N.C., as well as the founder of Hewett Auto Sales. Bobby completed basic military requirements for the United States Navy at the Naval Training Center in Orlando, Florida in 1969. Bobby was a faithful, dedicated man who worked and helped others all his life. He had a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a shrimper, clammer, worked on tugboats, worked on dredge boats, and even worked at Fort Caswell as a young boy. There wasn't much that Bobby couldn't do. Bobby was a devoted servant of the community of Brunswick County for many, many years.
Bobby is preceded in death by his father, Willie Curtis Hewett, his mother, Mary Evelyn Bowling, his first wife, Cathy Martin Hewett, his son-in law, Tommy Cole, and his grandson, Andrew Cole.
Bobby is survived by his second wife, Thiry L. Hewett, daughter Patti Hewett Cole, daughter Heidi Hewett Brown, stepson Andrew Jonathan Hayes (Kristie Hayes), stepson John Christopher Hayes, stepdaughter Elizabeth Blair Hayes, a granddaughter Breanna, a great grandson Asher, and four more grandchildren, Daniel Hayes, Abigail Hayes, Caleb Hayes, Joshua Hayes, and his beloved three little dogs, Chloe, Gracie, and Flossie.
Visitation will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, May 4th at White Funeral & Cremation Service followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM held at the same location. Pastor Jonathan Hayes of Wesley's Chapel Church and Pastor Charles Drew of Lighthouse Pentecostal Church will be officiating the service. A burial service will follow at the Hewett Cemetery off Southport-Supply Rd.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Lighthouse Pentecostal Church or Wesley's Chapel Church in Bobby's honor.
