Bob Maskara, 63, was tragically taken from us Tuesday April 15, 2025. He was a beloved husband to Meg, father to Robbie, father in law, Kayla, older brother to Daniel, Mark, and Nancy. He leaves behind his Aunt Joanne; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Born George Robert Maskara Jr, but known as Bob or Bobby to all, was born February 15, 1962 in Yonkers, NY; the first of 4 children to the late George and Patricia Maskara.
He is survived by his wife, Meg Maskara of Bolivia, NC, his son Robert Maskara (Kayla) of Port Jervis, NY, his brother Dan Maskara (Meredith) of Sunnyside, NY, brother Mark Maskara (Lisa) of Yonkers, NY, sister Nancy Maskara of Elmsford, NY, his aunt Joanne Moynihan of Yonkers, NY, his uncles Martin Ball
(Sue) of Manahawkin, NJ, and Bill Ball of Jacksonville, FL, brothers in law James Curtis of Yorktown, NY and Gerald Curtis of Yonkers, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins.
Bob graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Yonkers, NY in 1980 where he was a member of the Basketball and Baseball teams. Bob later attended Manhattan College in Riverdale, NY. Bob began working for the United States Postal Service in 1983. He served the Postal Service in a variety of roles in White Plains, NY, Walden, NY, and ultimately Port Jervis, NY where he retired as Postmaster in 2017, after 34 years of service.
Bob and Meg retired to Bolivia, NC where he lived life to the fullest, making countless friends in his community. Upon retirement their beloved dog, Dixie, came into their lives. Bob enjoyed spending time going for walks with Dixie. In retirement Bob discovered his passion for golf, playing multiple times a week with his friends. Throughout his life Bob had a love for sports, especially Yankees baseball and Giants football.
Bob brought joy and laughs to many, and his spirit will be missed by all who knew him. The family is overwhelmed by the love and support they have received in this difficult time.
A viewing will take place from 3-5pm on Friday April, 18 at White Funeral Home in Bolivia, NC. A Christian Burial Graveside service will be held Saturday, April 19th at 11am Brunswick Memorial Gardens in Shallotte.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to 501 St Jude place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
