She was born on June 12, 1934 in Philadelphia, PA the daughter of the late, Samuel A. Groome and Beulah May Jones Groome and was preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah Green and son, John Suralik, III also a brother, Donald Groome.
Barbara and her husband, John, lived in Tuckerton, NJ for many years and moved to Brunswick County. She was a member the Bolivia Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.
Surviving are her husband of 70 years, John G. Suralik, Jr. of the home; a daughter, Stephanie DeShields, and husband, Reggie of Bridgeton, NJ; a son, Michael J. Suralik, Sr. of Morehead City, NC; a sister, Florence Richmond of Dummer, NH; ten grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
