William F. Carey, 82, of Boca Raton, FL passed away at Hospice by the Sea on April 17, 2024. He is survived by his spouse of 43 years, Kathleen (Coffey) Carey. Billy was born in Medford, Massachusetts, the son of William F. and Kathleen Lenhart Carey. He and his father moved to New York City following the death of his mother in 1948. He spent most of his life in the hospitality industry and owned bars in New York, Connecticut and South Florida, where he moved in 1981. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law Thomas Coffey (Sandy) of Lighthouse Point, FL, James Coffey of Spokane, WA, Bernard Coffey of Dover, NH, Daniel Coffey (Julie) of Iowa City, IA, his sister-in-law Margaret Coffey-Fiore (Bob) of Newington, CT, as well as many nieces, nephew and grand nieces and nephews.
Having lost his parents at an early age, Billy collected many friends throughout his life and made them his family. He leaves behind a loving group of them who will dearly miss his sense of humor and his love of music and literature.
