He is survived by many loving relatives, including his wife of 67 years, Maryanne, his son John III and his daughter Debora, of West Boca, FL; his son Thomas of East Hampton, NY; his daughter-in-law Patricia, granddaughter Cheryl Temple, husband Justin, and great-grandsons Jack and Nicholas, of Coconut Creek, FL; granddaughter Jacqueline House and grandsons Jaxson and Jase, of Athens, GA; and granddaughter Jessica House of Delray Beach, FL. He is predeceased by his son Donald and his brothers Gerard, Donald and Francis, and is lovingly remembered by sisters-in-law Winfred Boyd of Bohemia, NY and Carolyn House of South Huntington, NY, by eleven nephews and nieces, and by many other extended family members and friends.
Jack was born on October 31, 1931 in Manhattan, NY to John and Marie House and was the eldest of four brothers raised in Elmont, Long Island. He graduated from Bishop Loughlin Memorial High School in Brooklyn, NY and worked in the Manhattan offices of TWA from 1951 to 1991 in various capacities, rising to manager of the scheduling and operations departments. He married Maryanne Dolan, also of Elmont, in 1952, and the two eventually settled in East Islip, NY, where they lived until their mutual retirements. In 1991, they moved to Florida and lived in both Melbourne and West Boca, surrounded by family.
Some of Jack’s favorite things were gardening, birds, dogs and especially baseball. He was an avid, lifelong Yankee fan and spent many years on the fields, both as a player in his youth and later as a coach of baseball and softball teams for his children and grandchildren. He was a fastidious landscaper, and his beautifully kept yards were the talk of the neighborhoods.
