Jerry was such an optimist and positive person.  There was always the better way to look at something.  As all of us, he had his fears and concerns, but always found a way to develop a better perspective.
Jerry really liked a good time, not wanting to waste time on something that was not enjoyable.  He also pushed himself to do difficult tasks when others might have given up.
Years ago, Jerry spent time searching for the right person to marry and when he found Sharon he was sure that she was the woman for him and with whom to build a life.  Clearly, he made the best possible choice as Sharon has been a loving, devoted, strong, steadfast, terrific life partner. During his recent battle with Parkinson's Disease, Sharon has displayed her deep and abiding love of Jerry by her attentive and constant caregiving for him during this very difficult time for both of them.
He often displayed his pride in his son Russell's accomplishments and the great times they had playing and fishing together, often sharing photos of them fishing and displaying "their catch."  Russell was and is "the apple of his eye."
Unfortunately, in later years, he endured physical limitations including significant pain and discomfort that he fought through with strength and determination.
His optimism, humor, friendship, and enjoyment of our favorite music will be deeply missed.

Sharon and Russ, this is a very sad time for the two of you and the rest of us, but I try to focus on the good times. The fun times at our dinners, the jokes and the political discussions. Obama and Biden were the focus of our discussions on more than one occasion (I think Jerry just rolled over). On the way to the golf course we would talk about stocks and the state of the nation. Fishing with Jerry and Russ was a blast. Travis and I would sit back and watch Russ and Jerry discuss their strategies to catch that elusive monster Mahi. Usually they wanted to simultaneously go in opposite directions to catch Moby Mahi. Playing golf with Travis, Russ and Jerry on Sunday afternoons was a myriad of mulligans and NOT rated PG. There are other golf stories but they are not suitable for this family site.
Jerry loved life and we had many good times, however more than anything else he loved you, Sharon and you, Russ. We will miss him dearly. 

To Sharon and Russ. A good man has left this earth to soon. Jerry enjoyed his life,  he lived his life with honor, he was a harding working father and loving husband. We will miss you Jerry. Sharon and Andy Chansen

Sharon and Russell, Jack and I are so very sorry about Jerry's passing.

Jerry and I shared many happy days at the University of Maryland. His fraternity house, Theta Chi, was right next to my sorority house, Kappa Kappa Gamma.  We shared campus events together and some visits to each other's family homes for weekends and special occasions. After graduation, we travelled different paths, but the strong connection between us was always there. I feel his loss greatly, and send prayers to both of you during this difficult time.
