After a fierce battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), James Daniel “JD” Talton, 51, passed away peacefully at home in Boca Raton, Florida on October 16, 2018. He fought with everything that he had, but never succumbed to ALS.
Daniel, as he is known to his family, spent 20 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation as an Agent and retired in August 2018. The majority of his career was spent in Houston. He joined the S.W.A.T. Team early on and was a member of this fantastic team from October 2002 through August 2015. He had a thirst for adventure and a love of country so strong that when he was offered the opportunity to serve in Iraq during “Operation Iraqi Freedom” and again in Afghanistan during “Operation Enduring Freedom”, he gladly accepted. He responded to New Orleans hours after Hurricane Katrina ravaged that city and, with his partner Jack Walker, rescued many people who were trapped in their homes and neighborhoods.
Daniel’s real joy came from his family. He loved his children, Asher and Sloane, without bounds. He was always present for their sports events and activities and spent every minute possible with them. His only regret was leaving them too soon. He loved the beach, fishing with Asher and tending to his banana trees. He was so happy to return to Florida after living in Texas for 17 years.
His wonderful life will forever be cherished in the lives of his children, Asher and Sloane Talton; his wife, Wendi Delia Talton; his parents, Barbara and Jim Talton of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; his sister, Betsy Talton-Buck of Atlanta; his brother, James Talton of Tampa, Florida; his aunt, JoAnn Bray Barrow of Fayetteville, Georgia; his uncle Bill Talton of Acworth, Georgia; and a host of friends and extended family.
