She was born in New York, New York to Michael and Josepine Engel on December 24, 1929. Ann was predeceased by the parents Michael and Josephine Engel, brother Michael Engel, and husband Charles DeBoissiere. She is survived by sister, Josephine Kuis (Rochester, NY), daughter, Joanne Bonura (Boca Raton, FL), son Daniel DeBoissiere and his wife Kathleen Baker (Rehoboth Beach, DE), grandson Andrew DeBoissiere and his wife Christina, and great grandsons Alexander Samuel, and Joseph (Burke, VA), grandson Jefferey DeBoissiere (Savannah, GA) and granddaughter Gabrielle DeBoissiere (Richmond, VA).
While we will miss mom, and believe she’s finally hit the ultimate “Jackpot” in heaven, we all should be grateful for being lucky enough to have hit a lifelong history of “jackpots” having her as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, co-worker, and friend.
She grew up on the lower-east side of Manhattan during the depression, and leading into World War II, with parents that had migrated to the U.S. from Europe. For many years mom spoke Hungarian, as fluently as English. Mom graduated Washington Irving H.S., and not many years afterwards, met and married Charles DeBoissiere. They were married for over 34 years, raising two children, while mom concurrently had a successful career, working as a Medicare/Medicaid administrator for New York State, and dad retired from the NYPD. After dad passed in 1984, Mom returned to the workforce and had an excellent second career as an insurance administrator and her daughter re-located to live with her in Florida.
As many are aware, mom and Joanne were a couple of “wild and crazy” girls, who were the best of friends, and enjoyed many travels, dinners, and yes “jackpots” together. Meanwhile her son Dan was hitting a few different types of jackpots which mom loved enormously, and unconditionally, - her grand and great-grandchildren. They always made her smile! She will always make us smile! And Believe in the End - She Lived a Life that Beat the House!
Initial private gathering to be followed with Celebration of Life to happen at a later time.
