

Vera Wampler Greene, 96, of Bloomington, IN died peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, May 11, 2013. She was born February 25, 1917 in Knox County, IN the daughter of the late Earl and Madeline (Stoelting) Wampler.
Vera graduated from Bicknell High School in 1934. She graduated from Indiana University in 1938 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. She lived in Indiana her entire life except during World War II, when she worked in American Red Cross Headquarters in Washington D.C. She lived in Linton, IN from 1948 to 1972 before moving to Bloomington in 1972.
Vera was a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution; she was active for many years in the Tri Kappa philanthropic organization. She was a member of the Methodist Church in Linton, IN where she volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, and of the First United Methodist Church in Bloomington.
Vera had a passion for cooking, baking, gardening, watching IU basketball, and spending time with family and friends. She will be deeply missed.
Vera is survived by her two sons, David E. Greene and his wife Barbara J. Bealer of Bloomington, IN and James K. Greene, Captain, USN (Ret) and his wife Darlene Bennett Greene of Culver, IN; and by her four grandchildren, Steven E. Greene of Lafayette, IN, Andrew J. Greene, Corporal, USMC of San Diego, CA, and Katie and Sierra Salerni both of Culver, IN.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband George E. Greene, and a brother, Wesley Wampler.
