Shirley was born on September 5th, 1935, in Bloomington, Indiana, the youngest of 10 children of Louis W. and Hazel (Wells) Hankins. Shirley graduated from Bloomington High School, and she continued to be involved with her graduating class reunions and activities until her passing. She married Frank D. Pruett in 1954 and lived in Indiana, Texas, Oklahoma and California (which she hated). She was a legal secretary for over 48 years working for numerous law firms.
Shirley was an avid reader of novels, a self-taught pianist, competitive card player (bridge and euchre being her favorites). She traveled to many countries with Frank, but Indiana was always her home. She loved sports, especially basketball and football. Her favorite teams were Indiana University (Go Hoosiers!), Dallas Cowboys and any team playing against Duke. But most of all she was the best wife, mom, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Shirley is survived by her children, Greg (Nancy) of Fishers IN, Barry (Amanda) of Gainesville FL and Penny of Fishers IN; grandchildren, Chris (Ariana), Taylor Caitlin (Taylor), Scott (Justine), Taylor James (Lauren), Cameron, Dallas (Nicole), and Peyton; great grandchildren, Amelia and Maxwell; her sister Jean Helmond of Plainfield IN; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, Frank, and her middle son, James Bradley.
