Sara Louise Egan Newton, 91, of Solsberry died Friday Morning in her home surrounded by her family. She was born April 20, 1929 in Monroe County to James Egan and Emma Honeycutt Egan. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include two sons, Dennis (Karen) Newton of Springville and Anthony Newton of Solsberry; a daughter, Deanna (Ronnie) Burke of Solsberry; two sisters, Doris Copple of Seymour and Ruth White of Bloomington; thirteen grandchildren, Lonica (Burke) Snapp, Crystal (Burke) Axsom, Brian Burke, Becky (Burke) Kirkpatrick, Larry Armes, Jr, Stacy (Mills) Sexton, Marty Armes, Holly (Newton) King, Joshua Newton, Shelby Newton, Sara Ann Newton, Cody Newton and Courtney Newton; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; and several nieces,, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dean Newton, a son, Jack Newton; a daughter, Brenda (Newton) Hoard; a granddaughter, Tiffany Ann (Newton) Wolfe; three sisters, Helen (Egan) Pemberton, Eunice (Egan) Pemberton and Norma (Egan) Phillips; and two brothers, Virgil “Bud” Egan and Eugene Egan.
Sara was a longtime member of the Old Time Pentecostal Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her church family, gardening, sewing and babysitting.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Tuesday, August 18 from 12:00 – 2:00 PM in the Old Time Pentecostal Church, 10784 East State Road 54, Bloomfield. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Tuesday in the church with Brother Allen Jackson officiating, burial will follow in Greene County Chapel Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, Greene & Harrell Chapel.
