Robert was a farmer and also a retired employee of Bloomington Crushed Stone. He was of the Methodist faith and attended the Free Methodist Church of Bloomington and St. Paul Methodist Church.
Robert enjoyed the lost art of storytelling and had a great sense of humor. He was the author of the book “Ramblin’s”, short stories about his family and life in Bloomington.
Robert was united in marriage to Wilma J. Taylor on August 6, 1950. She preceded him in death on July 10, 2013.
Robert is survived by his five children: Diana Conder-Hall, Jim(wife Sheryl)Conder,Marcia(husband Ron)Pursell, Tom(wife Penny)Conder and Bruce(wife Lana)Conder, 14 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.
Robert is also survived by his sister Mary Hendricks and brother-in-law Paul Taylor, several cousins, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one granddaughter: Heather Michelle Hall, one step-grandson: Ronnie Sherman Pursell, one great grandson: Tucker Jackson Sims, two brothers: Jimmy and Don Conder and one sister: Bonnie Martin.
The funeral service for Robert will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary Greene & Harrell Chapel, 700 W. Gourley Pike, Bloomington, IN 47404. Entombment in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Robert’s grandson Pastor Adam Conder will officiate the service.
