Norma Jean McConnell, age 85, of Burlington, Wisconsin, formerly of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2023 in Burlington. Born August 22, 1938 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Leonard and Iva (Frye) Barger. Norma retired from Walgreens Drug Company and formerly worked for Sears. Norma was of the Christian faith, reading, especially her Bible, and knitting before developing arthritis.
Norma is survived by her six children; Kenneth R. (Jeanne) McConnell, II, of California, Tracy Brian (Sue) McConnell, of Michigan, Kerri Jackson, of Bloomington, Kathy McConnell, of Texas, Kelli McConnell, of Illinois and Penni (Tedd) Hendricks, of Tennessee; two sisters, Sandra Chamberlain and Phyllis (Jerry) Krebbs, both of Bloomington; two brothers, Fred (Cheryl) Barger and Gary (Tammy) Barger, both of Bloomington; eighteen grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren with one great-grandchild soon to arrive.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Jackie Lee Barger, one grandson, Jonathan Garcia, one son-in-law, Michael Jackson and one brother-in-law, Charles Chamberlain.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, October 27 at 11:00 a.m. at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Douglas officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Cemetery in Brown County. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
The family suggests memorial contributions be given to the Arthritis Foundation.
