Larry Ray Arthur, age 76, passed away Sunday, December 1st at I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospital. Born February 28,1948 in Bloomington, Indiana, he was the son of Marion and Helen (Purtlebaugh) Arthur. Over the years, Larry worked for Dr. Pepper, Victor Oolitic Stone Mill, and A-1 Beverage prior to purchasing The Office Lounge, which he has proudly owned for over 43 years. Additionally, Larry and Karen owned and operated The Round Table at the Junction, The High Spirits Liquor Store and a nearby commercial property. Larry enjoyed reading and researching on his computer, visiting with customers at the bar, and spending time with family. He especially loved hearing from his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They were his pride and joy and who he loved to boast about the most.
Larry was a spouse, a father, a grandfather, and a friend. He is survived by his wife, Karen and his three children, Ron Arthur (Theresa) and Kelly Misheikis (Scott) of Bloomington, Indiana, and Dr. Jay Arthur of Greenwood, Indiana; 5 grandchildren: Jacque, Joe (Caitlyn), and Jessi Arthur and Kameron and Konner Misheikis; 4 great-grandchildren: Eli, Easton, Emmett and Emersyn Arthur; and one sister, Sheila (John) Robertson. Larry was preceded in death by his parents Marion and Helen Arthur; his brothers Jim Sumners, Melvin, Kenny, and Denny Arthur; his sisters Phyllis Sims and Delores Weber; and his in-laws who were like parents to him., Bob and Helen Langley. Larry had a giving heart and was always willing to help someone in need. He will be loved and missed by all who knew him.
There will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Thursday December 5, 2024 from 3:00 – 8:00 PM and from 1:00-2:00 PM on December 6, 2024 in Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 East Third Street. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday December 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM in the funeral home with Pastor Grant Quimby officiating; burial will follow in Unionville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Larry’s name to Danny Smith Memorial Park or Tunnels to Towers Foundation, both near to his heart.
Serving as pallbearers are Ron Arthur, Joe Arthur, Easton Arthur, Konner Misheikis, Matt McClanahan and Mike Langley.
