Karla was born on November 11 1958 to James and Delcia Hamann in South Bend, IN. She spent her childhood years in northern Indiana and started her family in Plymouth. After her parents moved to Spencer, Karla and her four beautiful children, Michelle, John, April and Alicia shortly joined them. Spencer is where Karla met her beloved husband Kenneth Moore.
Karla was a determined, compassionate, generous, humble, loving woman who blessed everyone she met. She took great joy in raising her children as well as providing for others in her community. She found community in her growing family, neighbors, church, and organizations like the Girl Scouts and the Owen County Extension Homemakers Association. In later years she connected with many through her business Alterations & Moore.
Her journey took her too many cities and she found a church family in each one. She was a member at Trinity United Methodist (Plymouth), Spencer United Methodist, First Baptist Church, The Place and most recently Sherwood Oaks West. She used her skills to serve others on Mission Trips, in the Choir, and as part of the Children’s Ministry.
Her hands and feet were always busy. Her passion for sewing led her to start a business which allowed her to bless others with formal wear, quilts, costumes, swimsuits, and anything else her clients could dream up.
In her spare time Karla enjoyed gardening, canning, growing and arranging flowers, tinkering, music, and traveling. Most of all she enjoyed celebrations with her family. Her door and her arms were always open and waiting for the next visit.
Her family and friends are grateful for the memories that they have shared and they will miss her smile, her laugh, her warm hugs, her advice, her singing, her delicious desserts, and the words of encouragement that she offered.
Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Moore; children, Michelle (Ceci) Spence, John Hansen, April (Christopher) Ashley and Alicia Miller; grandchildren, Christian (Amanda) Williams, Amber Williams, Josh, Jon and Kaylynn Jones, Samantha and Mason Ashley, Melody, Isaac and Gabriel Miller, Sebastian Hansen, Mari and Phen Spence; great grandchildren, Declan and Paisley Williams, Briar Tyner and Everett Hayes; siblings, David (Cathy) Hamann, Gail (Bob) Larva, Laura (Thomas) Weeks, Randy Hamann, Kathy (David) Collins and Jimmy (Vanessa) Hamann,; brother-in-law; Jimmy Moore; Sister-in-law, Jennifer Moore; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents James and Delcia Hamann and her grandson Coleman Miller.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday January 15th, 2022 from 1-5 pm at In God’s Arms Fellowship Hall 159 W. Franklin St. Spencer, In 47460.
