John Patrick Jeffries

On rare occasions immense talent, wisdom and influence come to dwell in the same personhood as humility, kindness and selflessness. Such individuals resist the temptation to wield their gifts to their own edification and instead empty themselves to the service of others. Such an individual is John Jefferies, celebrated teacher, musician, poet, friend, father, grandfather, brother and husband. Whether John was inspiring his students in his many years as an English Teacher, or amusing his audience with his endless talent as a song writer and musician; John had a way of challenging the way we look at the world around us in a manner that invited us along on a journey of self discovery and wonder. As we celebrate the occasion of his moving from this stage to the next we continue to sing the song that was his life, the melody of which we will hear all our days. John is survived by his wife Elizabeth Weiss-Jefferies, his stepchildren Alex Trendelman, Jesse Levison, Jordan Trendelman, Christina Connelly and his granddaughter Emerson Levison Trendelman. He is also survived by his mother Marie Jefferies and his brothers Michael, Jim, Richard and Jadge. A celebration of life for John will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary (700 W Gourley Pike Bloomington, IN 47404).
