Jill Christine Clay

Jill Christine Clay, 47, of Bloomington died Thursday morning, December 11, 2014, in I.U. Health Hospice House. She was born August 29, 1967, in Bloomington to Tracy Clay and Linda Louise Greenwell Clay. She was a PhD Candidate in Special Education at Indiana University at the time of her death. She had previously taught for twelve years at Fairview Elementary School as a special education and inclusion teacher.
Survivors include her husband, Dr. Nicholas Lightfoot of Bloomington; four children, Lucy Farmer, Eli Farmer, Isaiah Farmer and Isabella Farmer all of Bloomington; her mother and step father, Linda and Terry Lamirand of Bloomington; her father and step mother, Tracy and Bobbi Clay of Spencer; two sisters, Lesley Spatta and her husband Ty of Spencer and Allison Haskett and her husband Sean of Bloomington; her grandmother, Doris Clay of Clear Creek; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Katie Elizabeth Farmer, who died in infancy.
She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Center, a former member of the Bloomington Blades Hockey Board and spent her entire life as an avid runner, both competing and coaching. Aside from making her family her number one priority, her hobbies included writing, reading, gardening and spending time at the beach.
Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. on Monday December 15, 2014, in St. Paul Catholic Center, 1413 E 17th St, with Father Simon Felix Michalski, OP officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home.
