James Russell Isom Sr.

James Russell Isom, Sr. age 81, of Stinesville, passed away, Wednesday, July 7, 2021 at the I.U. Health; Bloomington Hospice House. Born March 26, 1940 in Bloomington, he was the son of Howard and Kathleen “Kay” (Fisher) Isom. James retired from R.C.A. and worked for the Richland-Bean Blossom Fire Dept. for 40 years. He had formerly been involved with the Good Timers Square Dance Club and served as a pack master and scout master as well as being an advisor for the Boy Scouts and the Heyoka Indian Dancers. He was a graduate of Bloomington High School and was a member of the Zion Church of the Nazarene. James is survived by his two sons, James R. “Russell” Isom II, of Marion, Arkansas and Richard Keith Isom, of Chicago, Illinois, one brother, David Howard Isom, of Seymour, Indiana, one sister, Carol Whitlow, of Bloomington, five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. James was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Jean (Harden) Isom, a son, Robert Douglas Isom and a sister, Janet Kay Isom. Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, July 12, 2021 at the Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home; 4150 E. Third St. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens.
