James A. Combs, 72 of Bloomington died Saturday morning, May 21, 2016 in I.U. Health Hospice House. He was born August 25, 1943 in New Albany, IN to Clarence Combs, Sr. and Mary Phillips Combs. He was a truck driver for over 30 years for Ralph Rogers and Co. James was a member of Amvets Post 2000, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 1085, Moose Lodge 1081 and Abate of Indiana.
Survivors include two daughters, Tina Chairs (Douglas) of Bedford and Jayme Gore of Bloomington; a stepson, Stephen Lake (Stephanie) of Bedford; 7 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; a brother, Phillip Combs (Darlene) of Evansville; the mother of his children, Lynn Combs of Bloomington; a son-in-law, Gary Hamblen; a sister-in-law, Pam Combs; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Linda Combs; a daughter, Beth Ann Hamblen; three sisters, Maude Marie Timberlake, Dorothy Gaydene Vaughn and Rosemary Warren; and six brothers, Donnie Combs, Jerry Combs, Michael Combs, Clarence Combs, Jr., Finis Carl “FC” Sullivan and William Thomas Sullivan.
Funeral Services are scheduled for Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Deremiah-Frye Mortuary, 700 W Gourley Pike, with Pastor Mickey Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Clear Creek Cemetery. Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, May 25th from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.
