Gene V. Watts

Gene V. Watts, age 89, of Bloomington, died Tuesday evening at his residence. Born September 19, 1924 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Virgil and Martha (Robinson) Watts. He was a U.S. Army veteran of W.W. II and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Indiana University. He was a member of Sherwood Oaks Christian Church and enjoyed walking, gardening and backing, coaching, and attending sports activities from Little League to high school to Indiana University. He was a retired letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in Bloomington.
He is survived by his daughter, Susan Watts, of Bloomington; daughter-in-law, Renee Watts, of Brazil, Indiana and two grandchildren, Megan and Stephen Watts, both of Brazil.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife, Patricia “Patsy” (Howard) Watts, on March 7, 2000, his beloved son, Grant Watts, on February 20, 2011 and three brothers and sisters-in-law, Russell and Olive Watts, Leonard and Gladys Watts and Herbert and Litta Watts.
The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Tuesday at Day Funeral Home in Bloomington with Pastor John Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday.
