Erin Kathleen Morrison

Born on September 2, 1998 in Muncie, IN, Erin was a student at Tri North Middle School and previously Grandview Elementary in Bloomington and Storer Elementary in Muncie, IN.

Erin's family included her parents Thomas and Kathryn Morrison, brother John Paul Morrison and sister Marikate Morrison, all of Bloomington; grandparents Donald and Pauline Morrison of Watertown, MA and Hannah Klein, of Selinsgrove, PA. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Olivia Mary Morrison, and maternal grandfather, Harry V. Klein. Erin was treasured by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her trusted canine service companion, Kanika.

Throughout Erin's life, she was supported and assisted by many nurses, therapists, doctors, medical personnel, and teachers who gave selflessly their expertise and compassion to make her world less challenging and more comforting and enjoyable.

With her parents, each semester Erin was a regular presenter to hundreds of special education majors at Ball State University to help students learn more effective ways to assist young people with disabilities and their families. Erin enjoyed growing up in the university communities of Ball State and Indiana University and sharing her life in this way.

While Erin's time in this life was short and her physical abilities challenged, she impacted more lives and accomplished more than most her age. With her family by her side, Erin made her way up tall mountains and swam in big oceans. She cheered at major sporting events and loved great music. Erin toured museums and zoos and even visited the West Wing of the White House. She viewed the world from skyscrapers in major cities and road horses weekly in therapeutic riding. With her flowing red hair and purple wheelchair, Erin blazed quite a trail. But it was her wide smile that all who knew her well will remember. With a quick smile, Erin made cloudy days bright and brought cheer to many.

Visitation will occur on Thursday, February 2nd, from 4-8pm at Day Funeral Home, 4150 East Third St. in Bloomington, IN. Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled on Friday, February 3rd at 11:00am, St. Paul Catholic Center – Indiana University, 1413 East 17th St. Bloomington, IN. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Erin's memory can be made to the Bloomington Hospital Foundation; the Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, or a charity of the donor's choosing.
