Born at her childhood home in Harrodsburg, IN, on November 16, 1944, Doris was the eighth of 10 children and the youngest daughter of Claude Earl Waterford and Lorene (Alexander) Waterford.
Doris attended Smithville High School. She married Charles “Charlie” Eugene Wilson on August 14, 1962. Their 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2012 were filled with love, laughter, and family.
Doris retired in 2008 from COOK Urological in Spencer, IN, after 25 years of employment with the company. She worked at RCA for several years prior to COOK
Her hobbies included weekly family gatherings, house cleaning, flowerbeds and yardwork, cooking and baking (her family loved her delicious, home-cooked meals), and taking care of her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Doris was a member of the Church of the Nazarene and said the best time of her life was when she gave her heart to the Lord.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Wilson; her parents Claude and Lorene; her five sisters Claudia Greene, Ruth Floyd, Florence Jacobs, Betty Sawyer, and Shirley Stevens; her four brothers Joe Waterford, Jack Waterford, Jerry Waterford, and Don Waterford; her nephew Roger Wayne Cummings, her niece Beth Ann Waterford Daniel; and her son-in-law Dennis D. Prunty.
She is survived by her daughters Kimberly Prunty and Cindy (Roger) Herrington, both of Spencer; her granddaughter Brandi (Doug) Smeltzer of Freedom; her grandson Dennis Michael (Tina) Prunty of Spencer; her grandson Bryan (Marissa) Herrington of Spencer; her granddaughter Lexie (Ethan) Wood of Bowling Green; her 11 great grandchildren: Brooklyn, Brinden, Haylen, Codie, Brayden, Katelynn, Ashten, Brantley, Kendall, Claire, and Jeb; sisters-in-law Deanna Waterford and Janet Waterford; and several nieces and nephews.
There will be a gathering of family and friends on Friday, September 16, 2022, from 12:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Day & Deremiah-Frye Funeral Home, 4150 E Third Street. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Chris Breeden officiating, also in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Chambersville Cemetery.
