Wednesday, August 11th, 2021. He was born to Kenneth and Dorothy (Barger) Amick on
September 30th, 1948 in Scottsburg, IN. He is preceded in death by both his parents and 4
siblings; Marilyn “Joan” Fulford, Robert Amick, Betty Meadows, and Kenneth “Junior” Amick all
of Bloomington.
Donald is survived by his wife, Patricia Dianne Amick, of nearly 49 years. His daughter Tami
Shultz (Richard) of Ellettsville, Son Donald Gregory Amick (Angie) of Seymour, Grandchildren;
Alyssa Bruce (Ben), Paige Lawson (Bryce), Haley Amick (Jacob), Madi Amick, Miley Amick,
Colton Sullivan, Myleigh “Lou” Sweeney, Maria Bailey (Trent), Devan Shultz (Mackenzie), Katie
Shultz, as well as two great-grandchildren; Kamin and Gracelynn. He is also survived by many
cousins, nieces, and nephews who all loved him dearly.
Donald went to Bloomington High School then was a service member of the US Army. After
serving, he started working and retired as a Union Carpenter. After retirement, Don was fond of
wood working, building his beautiful pond, and having the best looking yard around. He had a
great passion for racing. For many years he enjoyed working on and racing his racecar. He
raced at many nearby tracks where he passed down the torch to his son and daughter who both
raced with the help of their father. Don also loved spending time with his family, especially his
grandchildren, as well as watching racing and westerns on TV.
At this time there will not be any services, but a memorial service at a later date. In lieu of
flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Heart Association, American Lung
Association, or St. Paul United Methodist Church.
