

Christopher Kendrick Bobbitt, 71, passed away on January 22, 2024, at IU Health Bloomington Hospital. Chris was born in Berea, Kentucky, to James and Minerva Bobbit. He was a longtime resident of Bloomington, Indiana.
Chris attended Berea College, Trent University, and Indiana University. He had a wide range of talents and expertise. Among these, he was an accomplished weaver of coverlets and skilled in artifact restoration and conservation. He spoke several languages, played the clarinet, and was an avid amateur radio operator, who enjoyed making contacts around the world. He was a master organic gardener and seedsman, who shared his knowledge with a great many friends and clients.
Chris held a lifelong concern for the earth and all its inhabitants. He worked tirelessly to make this world a better place. He became a vegetarian as a young teen, and later followed a vegan path. He worked toward social justice and world peace. He was an active member of Bloomington Friends Meeting.
Chris cared very deeply for his family and friends. He will be missed for his quick wit, his sense of humor, his inexhaustible kindness, gentleness, and patience. His vast knowledge about an astonishing range of subjects. His ceaseless determination to make this world a better place. His wisdom. His kind and loving heart.
Christopher’s memory is cherished by Elyse Abraham, his loving wife of 26 years, and their child, Evan Bobbitt, as well as by his children from a previous marriage, Ian Bobbitt and Laurel Underwood, four grandchildren, his sisters Heather Bobbitt of Berea, Kentucky, and Robin Rice (Garland) of Tryon, North Carolina, and a great many relatives and friends.
