Barbara Louise Gifford, age 84, of Bloomington, died Friday evening at Garden Villa in Bloomington. Born November 7, 1926 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Everett and Marie (Stewart) Jones. She graduated from Bloomington High School in 1944. She had formerly worked at R.C.A. and then as a secretary for New York Life Insurance Company. She was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church and a former board member of Stonebelt A.R.C.
She is survived by her three sons and their wives: Michael O. and Marilyn Gifford, of Fayetteville, Timothy W. and Jan Gifford, of Ellettsville and Paul Bradley Gifford, of Bloomington; her daughter and partner, Paula Patricia “Pat” Freeman and Steve Stancombe, of Bloomington, two grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one sister, Wilma "Winnie" Languell, of Cedar Park, Texas; one step-brother and his wife, Charles and Jean Bruess, of Zionsville and one step-sister, Janet Groomer, of South Carolina. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul C. Gifford on April 3, 1991, her father, and her mother and step-father, Marie and Ed Bruess.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 P.M. at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Curtis Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home on Monday from 3:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Tuesday one hour prior to the service time.
