Barbara Ellen Butcher

Barbara Ellen Butcher, age 82, of Bloomington died Saturday afternoon (10/05/2019) at her residence. Born June 12, 1937 in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Glen Newton and Thelma M. Trisler Newton Hudoff. She was formerly employed at Wicks Clothing Company and later operated a daycare out of home for many years. Barbara was a long standing member of Sanders Pentecostal Church where she enjoyed going to church. She also enjoyed gourmet cooking, especially for her family as well as spending time with them. Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Daniel P. Butcher; two sons, Dennis Ray “Denny” Butcher (wife-Vicki), of Bloomington and Devry Lee Butcher (wife-Debbie), of Lafayette; three grandchildren, Denae Butcher, of Bloomington, Dawnisha (husband, Justin) Howard (children, Grayson Howard and Adalynn Howard), of Indianapolis and Dathaniel (wife, Jennifer) Butcher(child, Dominic Butcher), of Lafayette, step-son, Carl Terry Butcher (wife-Judy), of Kentucky, four step-grandchildren, Christina Ferree, Amanda Tinsley, Joshua Butcher and Joseph Butcher, thirteen step-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents. The funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Sanders Pentecostal Church with Pastor Joe Nelson officiating. Burial will follow in Valhalla Memory Gardens. Friends may visit the family at Deremiah-Frye Mortuary; 700 W. Gourley Pike on Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.at the church.
