She was my neighbor. The whole street loved her. Victoria always had a smile on her face. When I heard the news, I was so sad and shocked. Fly high, Victoria.

Victoria was the 1st person to welcome us to the neighborhood almost 11 years ago. We’d exchange produce from our gardens and share quick conversations while checking mail or doing yard work. 

The impression she left after each brief interaction was how irrevocably happy she was. It’s been a delight having her as our neighbor. 

Her pure heart & shining smile will forever be missed in everyone’s daily routine. 

The world does not know the magnitude of loss from your passing, but to those who have had the blessing of being in your presence feel it in their core.

Condolences to the family & friends of Victoria; whom she loved fiercely & unconditionally.

Victoria and I worked just down the hall from each other at NCAUR. She was a warm, caring, intelligent, giving, and happy friend. We spent time talking about a wide variety of topics, but most often about gardening, flowers, food, and her much beloved daughter. She introduced me to the tradition of the Mardi Gras King Cake and one usually appeared in our break room at the appropriate time of year. Often a treat would appear on my desk, courtesy of Victoria. She brought in wonderful tiny tomatoes from her garden and shared with me where to order the seeds. But most often, I would get a call or email asking me to stop by to see a picture or video of her sweet daughter, Lily. I don’t think you could find a prouder mother than she was. It is with a very sad heart that I offer my heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed.

We will all miss Victoria. Victoria is the most kindhearted, friendly person with a very generous heart. Her sudden passing made us very sad here at NCAUR. My heartfelt condolences to her family and loved ones.

I am so saddened by this news. I worked in the same research lab as Victoria at ISU. She was always helpful, kind, and motivated. I am so sorry to her family and loved ones. My deepest condolences and thoughts are with you.

I had the pleasure of working with Victoria on chemistry demos and on chemistry related activities for a number of years. She was enthusiastic about giving her knowledge and time, capable, confident, generous with her time and expertise.

I'm so very sorry for the loss of Victoria. She was very welcoming when we moved next door. I enjoyed talking to her thru the fence about gardening as we both worked on our gardens. She was so kind and inviting.

I am so sorry for the loss of Victoria and wanted to offer some words of remembrance.
As a coworker at the ag lab and hallmate, Victoria impacted me in so many ways.  We had babies a month apart, and sharing stories of our kids as they grew made me see that Victoria was an amazing mom.  Victoria was also an amazing outreach committee chairperson for the lab!  Her example and mentorship really helped as I fumbled my way through my turn as chair.  I learned a lot from her endless generous spirit coupled with her courageous practical side.   I will also miss her enthusiasm for regularly celebrating life with unique treats that she willingly shared.   She was such a bright light in our workplace.

I am so sorry for your great loss. Victoria’s smile, her optimism, and her generosity brightened many, many days for me and so many others at the lab. Victoria spoke of her family often; she loved Thai and Lily with her whole heart and was so proud of them. Her love and regard for her parents and extended family were wonderful to see. Saying that Victoria was smart, talented, and delightful doesn’t begin to convey everything she contributed to her coworkers, who counted her as a friend.

We loved working with Victoria and she was a great student, great researcher, and great ISU supporter...we will all miss her warm smile and fun approach to life....our best wishes to her family and friends...marge jones Chemistry Department at ISU

My deepest sympathy for your loss.

Victoria brightened the lives of so many people with her kindness and immeasurable generosity. Rarely did I have a conversation with her that I did not learn something new – about kiwi berries, silly interactions with her daughter, dark chocolate peanut butter cups from Trader Joe's, new Korean health and beauty products, BTS and their A.R.M.Y, how big her niece and nephews were getting, fruit flavored teas, the amazing bakery at Ardor… the list could go on. And many times those conversations, especially about food, would be followed up with a treat left on my desk. She reminded us to find joy in the small details of life that often seem ordinary.

At the same time, she was accomplished in the lab and her contributions to the Outreach program at NCAUR were unparalleled. Hundreds of students have been inspired to explore science through her classroom teaching and outreach efforts. 

Victoria generously shared her bright spirit with so many people both personally and professionally and I’m heartbroken she’s gone. I was honored to call her a colleague and dear friend. To her family, please accept my deepest sympathies.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I worked with Victoria at Illinois Heart and Lung. So many good memories and every year I think of her when I hang her hand painted ornaments on my christmas tree.

While I didn't work directly with Victoria, I did see her in the corridor most every day--on my way out of the ag lab building. We both worked on the second floor.

What stands out more than anything to me is Victoria's ceaseless smile and positive attitude. I recall Victoria pre-in-the-family-way, during, and after. Always the same--smiling and positive.

I think the best memory I have is when I was giving away morel mushrooms. I had sent out a company-wide email and Victoria was one who responded. She was so excited to get morel mushrooms.

Victoria later told me how she prepared the mushrooms and she wanted more! Sadly, I had no more--and the following year was a bust for morel mushrooms.

It's hard to even believe that such a vibrant person is now gone.

Victoria was a wonderful person with a kind greeting, infectious smile, and infectious laugh for most if not all people.  We connected through our love for food, family, and outreach at work.  She was one of my go-to people for great local cuisines to try.  I will greatly miss her.

Blessings to her husband, daughter, mom, and family.  May her fond memories always be a comfort.

Victoria would share her life's experience's, tea and new restaurants to explore on many occasions with me. She will be missed greatly by any and all that knew her.

Victoria will be deeply missed by all of us at the Ag Lab.  She brightened our days with her positive outlook and energy.  She was a brilliant leader and made the Ag Lab both a better place to work and better at giving back to IL.  She was also a joy to work with and incredibly generous in sharing her knowledge and helping out.    She always seemed to be bringing in food to share.  She will be deeply missed.

It is so hard to lose Victoria. She brightened our days with her beautiful smile and infectious laugh. She was so thoughtful and made each and every person she interacted with feel special. She would bring little gifts and special foods for all of us to try. It was an honor to know her. My deepest condolences to her family. Please know she will never be forgotten.

I wish I could say thank you one more time to Victoria for all her generosity. I will miss her so much. She brought so much fun and adventure to our lives. My life is more full because of it.

I am so sorry for your loss.  Victoria was one of the sweetest individuals I have ever known and she will be greatly missed.  I was fortunate to be able to do some research with Victoria and Mike prior to the pandemic and enjoyed her knowledge and understanding of what we were working on.

Victoria was the most generous person I have ever had the honor of knowing.  Whether she was sharing her love of chemistry, foods (she loved to bring in fruits and vegetables that most had likely not tried before so they could experience something new), plants or her smile and infectious laugh - she always had enough to go around.  Her kindness and compassion was unmatched.  

Praying peace and comfort over her family as they navigate a new day to day without her presence.  Rest in eternal peace Victoria, I am better for having known you. <3

Victoria was my first coworker friend at NCAUR. We instantly clicked because of our deep Louisiana roots, love of southern cuisine, and our love of shenanigans. She was such a soul; always smiling, ever ready to assist in anything, and most of all my co-conspirator in office pranks. Victoria was easy to talk to, pleasant to be around, and always brightened the work day. No one had the snack stash like she did :). I looked forward to chocolates, jack fruit, boudin, crawfish or blue crabs being in my office as a surprise. She always thought of me. 

She was a proud mother and wife who loved her family.  There was never a bad word spoken by her about anyone. Even in her personal time, she took great care in helping my daughter in her chemistry studies. This is a hard , hard loss and I can't even fathom what her family is enduring at this time. They're all in my thoughts and prayers forever.
