Thomas McAuley, Jr., 90, resident of Martin Health Center in Bloomington, passed away Friday, May 18, 2018 at 12:40 p.m. at the center. He was born August 30, 1927 in Springfield, the son of Thomas and Uranus Edson McAuley. He married Dorothy Germann on June 6, 1947 in Springfield. She preceded him in death on May 1, 2003. Thomas later married Alice Cox on July 30, 2004 in Bloomington. She survives.
Thomas was a WWII veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy. He also served in the Air Force Reserves for 28 years. He worked with the Internal Revenue Service for 36 years, and more recently, spent 14 years as federal credit union manager for the Bloomington Pantagraph, retiring in 1999. Thomas was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bloomington for 51 years, and was active in Boy Scouts in Springfield. He loved to garden and traveling with Alice.

In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by two sons, Thomas (Marty) McAuley of Rhode Island; and Donald (Sandy) McAuley of Bloomington; three stepchildren, Jim (LeAnn) Cox of Normal; Jane (Ray) Smith of Kansas City, Missouri; and JoEllen (Randy) White of Wenona; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, and 14 step great grandchildren.
In addition to his first wife, he is preceded in death by a sister, Matilda Miller.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 25th at 11 a.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home. Private entombment will take place at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at East Lawn Funeral Home.
