Stanley "Dick" R Thompson, age 88, of Normal, Illinois passed away on Friday January 4, 2019. "Dick" was born August 26, 1930 to S.L. (Dutch) and Clara Shoultz Thompson in Delavan, IL. They preceded him in death.
He married Charlene Williams on August 27, 1955 in Decatur, IL. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Bob (Pam) Williams of Mackinaw, Cindy Norton of Bloomington, Butch Thompson of Bloomington, Rick (Therese) Thompson of Bloomington and Steve Thompson of Normal; 6 grandchildren, Laura (Scott Hamilton) Webb, Ryan (Angela) Williams, Jacob (Leslie Vice) Mason, Melissa (Michael) Black, Derek (Danielle) Sample, Kady Thompson; 9 great-grandchildren and sister, Pat Grimm.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Bessie Williams, Jean Allison and Margaret Ellen Puckett.
Dick was a member of the IBEW for more than 60 years. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Moose Lodge and Eagles.
He was one of the founders of the Twin City Tigers Football League.
Dick was in the Navy, serving in the Korean War.
There will be a Celebration of Life held Saturday, February 2, 2019 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Reality on Monroe, 111 E. Monroe, Bloomington, IL.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude.
