Sandra Kay Barnes, 68, of Bloomington passed away on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 8:39 p.m. at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center in Normal. She was born on March 3, 1950 in Bloomington, the daughter of Edmund and Eloise Umphress Barnard. She married Fred Barnes on March 14, 1970 in Normal. He survives.
Sandra worked at State Farm from 1968 until her retirement in 2014. She enjoyed yard sales and watching television, especially QVC and game shows including Wheel of Fortune and Family Feud. She also liked to read. She and her sister, Leanna, were known as “Lucy” and “Ethel,” with Sandy taking on the role of the famous redhead.
In addition to her husband, Sandy is survived by her daughter, Beth (Eddie) Eloiza of Bloomington; two grandchildren, Emma and Eddie, Jr. Eloiza; and a sister, Leanna (Kirby) Johnson of Normal.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a half-brother, Ron Simpson.
Cremation rites will be accorded. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 25th at 1 p.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington. Burial of her ashes will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held two hours prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the McLean County Humane Society, the American Red Cross, or the Miracle League of Central Illinois.
