My deepest sympathy on your loss.  I was just thinking about Ruth and Don wondering how they were doing.  I worked with Ruth at State Farm and she was a wonderful lady. My prayers for Don and their family.

    We also liked to skim the newspaper and discuss various articles.  The comics were, of course, what we couldn't wait to get to.  Hagar the Horrible was her favorite. But we discovered The Other Side, about two dogs and their adventures.  Sometimes it was funny and sometimes it was thought provoking...  The wedding of Prince Harry was great fun for Ruth.  She told me that an aunt of hers in Norway was a follower of the Royals for years and years.  The dresses, makeup, hair and especially the shoes were of conversation for us. She liked pretty shoes.... In People magazine she favored the section,  Who Wore It Best.... Over time, Ruth and I became good friends.  We enjoyed being together and there was never a shortage of laughter.  So it was sad for me to see them leave Rio Verde, although I knew it was in their best interest. Later I drove by the house several times,  sending a prayer their way. I will always remember Ruth as the loveliest of ladies, kind, sweet and pretty.  Ruth will always be in my prayers.

Hello family and friends of Ruth, 
       Jeff asked me to share some moments that I had with Ruth. I first met Ruth and Don in February 2018. Don needed a companion for Ruth while he was running errands and getting a caregiver break.   Always when he was leaving he would kiss her and tell her he would see her later.  Always she answered, "if you are lucky."  I learned that kidding each other is a Blessing tradition...   Ruth was always the concerned hostess, insisting on serving me toast and coffee when I arrived.  Watching her one morning, I noticed how meticulously she buttered her toast.  Gently, slowly and carefully spreading the butter from corner to corner, side to side, until not a speck of toast was showing.  I guess I thought this was unusual. I commented on this observation more than once and she would just smile, like this is the way its supposed to be done ...   Their home was situated on the fourth fairway and we would go out on the patio and watch the golfers go by.  Often we would have to stifle our laughter as we were witness to some very bad golf...   Ruth was very fashion conscious, always greeting me wearing her jewelry and coordinated outfit. One day she came out wearing a pair of hot pink short shorts. I remarked at what beautiful legs she had, and she did.  Looking down at them, she said, "really?"  I answered, " yes Ruth, really!"...  We worked crossword puzzles with a vengeance for long periods of time.  I always asked her to fill in the boxes because her printing was much better than mine.  When we got down to the last two or three unsolved, we would skip to the back of the book but feeling like we were cheating. Or we would just throw up our hands and say we would tackle those tomorrow..  Ruth liked to show me her treasures around the house. The troll collection was special to her. Ruth's favorite was the little one with the long bushy grey hair.  Hopefully a family member has claimed it as a remembrance.    Pg. 1

I  was sorry to read about Ruth's passing.  I didn't know she lived here,  I could have visited her.  I live in Luther Oaks as Bob and I moved here to be near the kids  3 years ago.  Bob passed away last year and I miss him so much.  We both missed  Rio Verde but we liked  North Carolina and Lyn lived there at the time.  You will be in my prayers.  Carole Fedden

Auntie Ruthie  you will truly be missed. 
I remember how you told me about growing up in Norway and how fascinated i was because it was a different country and different times.  Now that I've grown up i think back to  those conversations as a kid and i think it pushed me to explore the world more and i definately have. Norway will have to be one of those stops one day. I remember the first time Mom, Dad & I met Ruthie.  We were  at Schmeckpeper 's.  Don brought in this skinny, blond girl with lots of freckles and a beautiful  accent.  Immediately there was lots of hugs and laughter.  Ruth loved jokes, loved to laugh, and most of all loved family.  Shopping with Ruthie was always a good time.  We would try on anything unusual and hats was a favorite.  Mom and Ruth looked great.  Becky, Carol and I just looked silly.  More laughter erupted.     There was a favorite greeting card store in Fountain Hills.  Ruthie and I would spend hours reading cards and laughing until we cried.  Yes, we even bought a few.   Ruth  was so talented in hardunger, knitting, crocheting and cooking Norwegian goodies.  Remember the kitchen towels she made for friends and family? She was so generous in so many ways.  She knit Norwegian sweaters for Dad and Mom.  She loved them so much and they became her parents rather than in-laws.  I will miss sharing books, phone calls, family times and especially the hugs and laughter.  She is at peace with Mom, Dad  , and her Lord. We love you Ruthie.

Sharing in your sadness as you remember Ruth.
Ruth was such a special thoughtful and sweet lady.  She gave me a clinging cross as a reminder of the Hope we have in Jesus.  She was excited to show me how she holds it while praying when she wants calm.  She is at peace now.  
As you celebrate  her life, may the many memories warm and fill your hearts now and in the future.  Vicki Beseke

Aunt Ruth was incredibly influential in our family!  She helped Theresa and I started our careers at State Farm and we owe much of our work career and lifestyle to both her and Don.  She shared Norwegian recipes with us like “Ruthies Gravy, Fondue Secret Sauce, Lingonberries, Lefse, Krumkake, etc!”  All to be washed down of course with a sip or two of Aquavit.. :)   We loved her laugh, warm heart and heritage.  She will always be remembered in our family for many generations.  God bless the Blessing family!
