The visitation will be from 3:00–5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2019, at East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, IL.
Robert was born September 27, 1935, in Jacksonville, IL to Kenneth Dean and Sadie Irene Walker Deibert. He married Patricia Taylor on June 1, 1958 in Bloomington, IL.
Robert retired in 1991 after 32 years as the Planning Engineer for GTE. During his retirement years, he worked for Ironwood Golf Course for 20+ years and White Tours.
Robert served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserves for 8 years, obtaining an honorable discharge. He was a founding member of the Corn Belt Carving Club; served as treasurer for the Young Mens’ Club and was a Scout Master for 25 years for the Boy Scouts of America Troops #17 and #45.
Surviving is his wife of 61 years, Patricia, 2 daughters, Lori (Kim) Ekena of Forsyth, IL and Lisa (John) Long of Normal; four grandchildren, Zachary (Emily) Long, Taylor Ekena, Mackenzie (Andrew) Mills, and Brandon Long; 3 great-grandchildren, Kylie Long, Atlee Mills, and Parker Mills.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Louise Hicks and Dorothy Deibert.
