Raymond "Pete" W Heidelberg Jr.

Raymond “Pete” Heidelberg Jr., 78, of Downs passed away March 8, 2022 at home and surrounded by his family. He was born February 7, 1944 to Raymond Sr. and Marguerite (Terven) Heidelberg and married the love of his life, Shirley Dithen on May 8, 1963.

Surviving are his loving spouse of 58 years: Shirley; children: Jeffrey (David) Heidelberg, Heidi (Mark) Humble; grandchildren: Nicole Hamblin, Cassi Humble, Aaron Heidelberg, Jocelyn Heidelberg, Stephanie Paxton, George Bryan; great-grandchildren: Teagyn, Alexis, Aspen, Harley, Jake, Korbin; siblings: Mary Smith, and Judy Mcgowan; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in passing by his parents; grandson: Geremy Hamblin; and sister: Margaret Wilcox.

Raymond was a resourceful man, who knew the meaning of hard work. He owned and operated Heidelberg Gravel Company for many years, providing assistance to families all over central Illinois. When he wasn’t hard at work, Raymond enjoyed hunting, playing pool, and watching NASCAR. He also thoroughly enjoyed trapshooting, winning various awards throughout the state.

Cremation rites have been accorded. A brief visitation will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington on Wednesday March 16, 2022 at 4:30pm., with private family funeral service at 5:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the local Humane Society or donor’s choice.
