Phyllis was born on August 22, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Adolph and Edna Lakemeyer. She stayed at home while her children were growing up. She took on seasonal work at Sears to ensure the children had Christmas presents. Later she worked at Carson Pirie Scott as a sales clerk.
She lived on the 17th floor of a condo in downtown Chicago that overlooked Soldier's Field and Lake Michigan. She enjoyed looking at the blue sky and watching the sailboats glide in the water. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, putting jigsaw puzzles together, music, movies and collecting Hummel’s and Lladros figurines. Throughout the years, she had many dogs and cats and loved them all. She was kindhearted, a generous person and an avid Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and yes she knew they are going to the World Series after 71 years! But most of all she loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Phyllis is survived by her children, Christine (Ted) Dossett and Paul Van Overloop; grandchildren, Crystal (Justin) Renaldi, Jesse Forman, Kaitlyn Dossett and Kortni Van Overloop; great grandchildren, Amelia, Luke and Ella Renaldi. She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, George Putz and Martin Richards; daughter, Phyllis Van Overloop and a sister, Marie Carlino.
A Memorial visitation and service will be held Saturday October 29, 2016 from 11:00 to 1:00 at the East Lawn Funeral Home, 1102 Airport Road, Bloomington, IL with a celebration of life after at 203 Park Drag Lane, Normal.
