Marcella Ann Dawson

She was born August 12, 1948, to the late James Edward and Esther Marie (Graves) Dawson in Bloomington, IL.

She is survived by her brother, Larry Alan Dawson, of Normal; niece Danalee (Dawson) Ogg, Towanda, and her children, great-nephews James (Kayla) Dawson and Jonathan (Allison) Dawson, both of Lancaster, OH, and Jacob Ogg, Towanda; nephew William (Christie) Dawson, Baytown, TX; and niece Elizabeth (Ross) Bouslog, Marion, KS, and her children, great-nieces and nephews Reyna, Bryson, Isaac, Sanna, and Jude.

Her brother, Lyle Edward Dawson, preceded her in death.

Marcy earned her LPN license in 1979 and began her life’s passion of caring for the elderly for over 30 years. She was a lifelong member of Park United Methodist Church, where she loved going to church and singing in the church choir. Marcy was active in several Bible study groups, Prayer Pockets, Red Hat Society, and ARC of Normal. Family was most important to her and she shared an unspeakable bond with Danalee and her boys, as if they were her own.

Cremation rites have been accorded. East Lawn Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.

A Celebration of Life will be held on April 11, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Park United Methodist Church in Bloomington. Pastor Curtis Rush will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Marcella’s name to the Glioblastoma Foundation (glioblastomafoundation.org).
