John D. Wieting Jr.

John D. Wieting, Jr, 89, of Piedmont, MO, formerly of Bloomington, IL, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, September 2, 2010 in Piedmont, MO.

He was born September 16, 1920 in Bloomington, son of John D. and Dorothy Burns Wieting. He married Caurine A. Poland in December of 1945. She preceded him in death on August 19, 1992. He was also preceded in death by one step-son, Robert Stivers, Sr. and seven siblings.

Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn (Latney, Jr.) Brooks of Piedmont, MO and four grandchildren, Latney, III (Tammy) Brooks, Jennifer Bishop, Rebecca (Elbert) Higgenbotham and Robert Stivers, Jr. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

John first worked at Steak N Shake in Normal, where he met his wife, Caurine, he then worked briefly as a police officer in Normal. He retired after 35 years from working in Public Works for the Town of Normal.

He was a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Bloomington. John was a dedicated family man and will be sorely missed by his daughter, grandchildren, great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 12noon on Thursday, September 9, 2010 at East Lawn Funeral Home, where visitation will be one hour prior to services. Father Doug Hennessy will officiate. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
