James was born on July 2, 1959 in Bloomington, the son of Roger and Beverly Lawson. He married the love of his life Brenda Zimmerman on October 18, 1980. She survives.
Also surviving are his children, Tisha (Jeremy Detloff) Lawson; and Zachary Lawson, both of Bloomington; two grandsons, Caleb Lawson and Lawson Detloff, both of Bloomington; sisters, Jackie (Larry) Brown and Sharon (Heavy) Baize, both of Bloomington; and Dodie Slaughter of Terre Haute, IN; a brother, Mark Slaughter of Terra Haute, IN; and several nieces and nephews. He left behind many special friends especially Dick Hayes.
He was preceded in death by his parents; maternal grandparents, Eldridge and Myrtle Price; Paternal Grandparents, Harry and Wilma Lawson; a special Uncle Howard and Aunt Babe.
James worked as a roofer for many years. He was employed at Republic Services as a roll-off truck driver for 17 years. His hobbies was being with his family, his dogs, and hunting. He was an avid NASCAR and Bear’s fan. His pride enjoy was his grandsons.
He will be greatly missed.
His Celebration of Life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2017 at the Eagles Lodge, 313 South Main Street, Bloomington, IL. 61701.
