Holley R. Hinthorn, 69, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023. He was born July 20, 1954, to Holley M. and Shirley (Miller) Hinthorn. He married his high school sweetheart, Connie Pfeifer on March 31, 1974. She survives. Other survivors include his mother: Shirley Hinthorn; sister: Julie Hinthorn; mother-in-law: Velma Pfeifer; sister-in-law: Shirley (Joe) Poole; niece: Samantha (Adam) Getty; nephews: AJ (Suzie) Hinthorn, Clint Hinthorn, all of Bloomington/Normal; Justin Hinshaw of Danvers; Mathew Hinshaw of Normal, Chad Hinshaw of Kirkland, WA; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father: Holley M. Hinthorn; father-in-law: Bob Pfeifer; brother: Roger Hinthorn; and sister-in-law; Gail Roop Hinthorn.
He graduated from Tri-Valley High School and with his wife’s support and patience, earned an Associate’s Degree from Lincoln College as well as a Bachelor’s Degree from Illinois State University. He worked at Kroger’s for 18 years and retired from Country Financial after 25 years.
Holley enjoyed playing pickleball, having breakfast at Times Past Inn with family and friends, traveling with his wife (especially to Las Vegas), and sitting on the porch and watching the road races on Veterans Parkway. He was an avid fan of ISU athletics, St. Louis Cardinals, Chicago Bears, and NASCAR. He loved teasing his nieces and nephews, family gatherings, and being with special friends, especially on New Years’ Eve.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations being made to Illinois State Foundation, Campus Box 8000, Normal, IL 61790-8000, memo line, Hinthorn – ISU softball or donor’s choice.
A public visitation will be held at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, on Thursday, December 21, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be officiated by Dennis Butler on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with burial to follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. The family would appreciate everyone in attendance to wear their favorite team hat. Please no Bradley attire.
