Donna was born to Gladys and Phillip Gemberling on January 2, 1937 in Minier. After Phillip’s passing Gladys married John Luft. Gladys and John both are deceased.Donna married her high school sweetheart, Gilbert Hastings, on November 28, 1955. They enjoyed nearly 61 years together. They raised three beloved children, two daughters and a son.Teresa Fagan and her husband Sean of Bloomington, Curt Hastings and his wife Karen of Cooksville. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Hastings.
Donna also had three cherished grandchildren, Tom Paine and his wife Jennie of Kansas City, MO, Jacob Hastings of Bloomington and Taylor Hastings of Cooksville. She also had two great-grandchildren, Kaelyn and Joshua Paine of Kansas City, MO.Donna is also mourned by a very special sister, Phyllis Myers of Armington and brother James Gemberling and his wife Candy of Pekin. Also surviving are, sister-in-law Lois Saunders and numerous nieces and nephews.
Donna retired from Mclean County Nursing Home after 15 years in the personnel department. Later, Donna and Gilbert worked together at the IRS for ten years.Donna will be remembered for her generous heart. She was truly a sweet woman. Her greatest joys were, spending time with her family, cooking, baking, and shopping.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at East Lawn Funeral Home. Rev Kendall Coffman will officiate. Burial will follow service at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Online condolences may be shared with the family at eastlawn-bloomington.com
