Dennis was a 1971 graduate of Normal Community High School. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Bloomington for 38 years. He was involved with the Boy Scouts for 14 years, first with Troop 56 in Towanda and later with Troop 53 in Downs.
He worked as a Union Carpenter for Local #63 in the Bloomington-Normal area from 1975 to 1986. He later worked as a machinist for Nestle, where he’s been employed since 1998.
Dennis was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, trapping, fishing, camping, boating and canoeing. His passion for life was riding his Harley-Davidson. Our most enjoyable times were spent riding with wonderful friends as we journeyed across the USA. He was known for his kind heart and was always lending a helping hand. His remarkable knowledge and talent in carpentry and machines made him our “MacGyver” of the family.
Even with his many hobbies, Dennis was very much a family man. He enjoyed spending time with his family, but especially his grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, where visitation will be two hours prior to services. The Rev. Kurt Flora will officiate. Interment will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington.
Because of his love for the outdoors, memorial contributions in his memory may be directed to the Department of Natural Resources or to Downs Community Fire Protection District, 102 West Main Street, Downs, IL 61736. Online condolences may be submitted to www.EastLawn-Bloomington.com.
