He was born March 17, 1931 in Gridley, IL son of John M. and Belle Andrews Kemp. He married Zelia B. Hutson on September 24, 1950 in Lexington, IL.
Surviving is his wife, Zelia Kemp of Bloomington, IL; three sons, Joe (Carol) Kemp of Lexington, IL, Phil (Connie) Kemp of El Paso, IL and Dan (Angie) Kemp, Jr. of Lexington, IL ; one daughter, Denise (Wayne) Eckhart of Lexington. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters.
Dan was a United States Air Force Veteran. He worked as a barber for eighteen years prior to working for Eureka Co. from which he retired in 1994.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 22, 2010 at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington, IL, where visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday and additional visitation one hour prior to services on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be at East Lawn Memorial Gardens in Bloomington, IL.
Dan was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a diehard New York Yankees fan and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was a life member of the Lexington American Legion Post 291 and was a member of The Golden Elite Club at his church the First United Methodist Church in Lexington. He will be greatly missed.
