He was born November 23, 1949 in Colfax, son of Pollen and Julia Myer Smith. He married Cindy McKinney on November 23, 1985 in Bloomington.
Surviving are his wife of Towanda; one son, Zachary Smith of Towanda; three brothers, Bob (Jane) Smith of Bloomington, Gary Smith of Towanda and Delmar Smith of Davenport, IA and one sister, Jean (Ed) Snodgrass of Pittsburg, PA.
Dale was educated in Colfax schools and was fond of saying that he was “a graduate from the school of hard knocks.” He was also a United States Army Veteran.
Dale was a self made man and self employed for over 35 years, the last 15 of those with O.E.M. Tractor Parts. A harder worker can not be found, with his love and passion of IH tractors.
He had a quick wit and was always ready with a joke. He will be remembered for his many humorous sayings, “Dale-isms” as his friends would like to refer to them.
Dale enjoyed going to the tractor and car shows and was an excellent photographer. He was also an avid Illini fan.
He was a loving husband to his wife of 24 years, and father to his son Zach. He had a deep respect for his creator and for all nature and wildlife. He loved spending time with his family and special furry buddy, Labrador, Max.
