When Cody was young, he attended Mulberry School in Normal and was an active member of Awanas and the Tiger Cub Scouts, later going on to join the Boy Scouts. He loved to hang out with his best friends, Josh Rogers and Brandon Reeves. They would catch all of the premier showing of Harry Potter. Cody was always a hard worker both at his job and in college. He enjoyed taking trips and exploring the world around him. Whether going with his grandparents to visit his Auntie Karen Baker in Georgia, or going on youth missions trips to Chicago and Washington DC, or even exploring California, the Carolina’s, and Tennessee with his mother--Cody was always looking for his next great adventure. When he wasn’t traveling or working hard as a part of the Junior Soldiers of Illinois (JSI) with Sargent Dennis Doss, Cody made sure to watch his favorite sports teams.
He had a true passion for sports and avidly supported his teams: the Bears, Blackhawks, Cardinals, Golden State Warriors, University of Kentucky, and Mizzou. From rooting for his favorite teams on the screen to participating in a multitude of sports, Cody was a true fan! Starting with weeball, soccer, and basketball in grade school, Cody went on to hold an active role in his Jr High and Sr High’s track and football team. He supported SEC football games and even made it into the first round of State Championships.
Cody will forever be in his friends and family’s hearts and be missed dearly.
Cody is survived by his mother and kitty, Truman. He is preceded in death by his grandparents James and Mary Ann Drnec.
