She was born March 4, 1955 in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of Robert and Frances Blejwas Cummings, they survive. She married Michael Stypolkowski on September 7, 1974 in Palatine, IL.
Surviving are her husband of Bloomington; three sons, Jason and Michael “Teja” Stypolkowski, both of Bloomington and Timothy Stypolkowski of Bend, OR and one grandson, Bailey Stypolkowski. Also surviving are two brothers, Terrance Cummings of Rhinelander, WI and Robert (Anna) Cummings of Vail, CO; four sisters, Monica (Jon) Davis of La Honda, CA, Mary Jo (Roger) Ledesma of Olympia, WA, Connie (John) Altergott of Lake Forest and Frankie (Dave) Szatkowski of Brooksville, FL and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one brother, Daniel Cummings.
Carol worked as a systems analyst at State Farm Insurance Company for 24 years, retiring in November of 2009. She also worked part-time at Von Mauer in Bloomington.
She was the Past President of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce and she also worked for Bloomington Gold.
Carol enjoyed bike riding and gardening. She also loved spending time with her family around their pool and playing scrabble. In 2002, Carol was a proud participant in the Three Day Cancer Walk.
She was a member of St. Patrick’s of Merna Catholic Church in Bloomington, where funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2010. Monsignor Jerry Ward will officiate. A prayer service will be held at 4:45 p.m. and visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at East Lawn Funeral Home in Bloomington.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Pramern Sriratana at the Community Cancer Center in Normal, and also the nurses of the FCC Unit at St. Joseph Medical Center, and all of their staff, for their compassion and extended care for Carol.
