Betty was born December 12, 1929 in Fairbury to William and Mabel Jacobs Kuster. She married Keith D. Phillis October 6, 1947; he preceded her in death in 2003.
Surviving are her children, Larry Phillis of Clinton, Linda (Kenneth) Carter of Clinton, David (Brenda) Phillis of Goodfield, and Nancy (David) Pool of Bloomington; grandchildren, Michael (Donna) Mayo, Andrea Bohlmann, Jillian (fiancé Justin Smith) Phillis, and Luke Pool; great-grandchildren, Connor and Mallory Ehlers, and Corryne and Drew Bohlmann; sisters, Lena Betts and Margaret Campbell; and lifelong friend Betty Inman of Watseka; Mrs. Inman remembered Betty by staying in touch.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Roy Kuster, and a grandson, Robert Mayo.
Funeral services for Betty will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday February 5 at First Christian Church, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4-7pm Monday February 4 at East Lawn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Interment will follow services at East Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Betty was raised in Chenoa, attending the Maple Tree Country School and graduating in 1948 from Chenoa High School. After raising her children, she began a career at the original Paul F. Beich Company. Her career at Nestle Beich lasted 30 years until her retirement in 1992. She loved playing a game of cards or just sitting on the porch. Betty loved Disney World; we were so blessed to take her there in March 2012. She had a warm personality and was known for saying “Amen. Betty’s family would like to thank her caregivers and the Advocate BroMenn PCU team for their care. Although she suffered from Alzheimer’s the last few years, her personality and love for others was always apparent.
