Ann M. Laymon, 84, of Normal passed away June 23, 2015 in Bloomington with her children by her side. She was born in Warsaw, IN on August 3, 1930. Raised by her mother Inez and Harry Phend in Milford, IN, Ann went on to graduate with her Bachelor’s in elementary education from Ball State University, where she pledged Alpha Chi Omega. This is where she met her husband Ronald L. Laymon who was also studying education. They were married August 24, 1952 in Milford, IN. They both began their teaching careers together in Elkhart, IN, then with the advent of the birth of their daughters, Cynthia first and Linda second, she began her career as an extraordinary mother and homemaker. Ann displayed skills we rarely see in people today, as a seamstress, a chef, a decorator, a hostess and massive support system to her husband’s career in academics. A true lady, she was smart, she was kind, she did not gossip but had only respectful words for others. She was an avid bridge player, accomplished golfer, she taught Sunday School and was a Girl Scout Troop Leader. Most of all she loved her family and made sure they knew it, both in word and in deed.
Ann is survived by her daughters, Cindy (Alan)Meiners and Linda (Marcus) Theissing; grandchildren Andrew (Kandie) Meiners, Daniel (Michelle Mueller) Meiners, Jillian Gannon (Chuck Drews), and Christie Gannon; great grandchildren Blaze and Chase Meiners.
